build slot and early signs of suiting my needs, followed by vearing off in the wrong direction....for me, not necessarilly others.

Interestingly enough even you guys have commented negatively on parts of their design process.

I have not, I have just decided not to bother....it's as fair and simple as that.

They are not going to please everyone, they know that.

I think the 100 will sail off 1000ish, having been probably one of the only sailors to race against it, i would say its slower on a lake but faster on bigger stretches of water.

So how about a 100 v D1 burnout at Burghfield asap ?  We have the dates available already for  a Saturday singehanderfest - see thread.  Seriously it would be interesting to see how both fare against each other and the single sail likes of 300, Phantom and Blaze/Halo and others. I can't be the only curious one there !

There will be at least one 100 at QM where I sail....but this is all just nonsense until the 100 is a prod spec....it's just too unfair to compare

I thought the Halo looked fast up and downwind that weekend at Burghfield but then you know your way around the cans Mike.

BTW ... er Tim - I was not going around the cans.  I was just sneaking up on you in the D1 trying  not to look too obvious to see how they compare.  We are not going your particular way with Blaze/Halo but real on the water info is the hard currency that feeds into practical ideas .. and if Halo  looked fast in that dismal wind then just wait and see what 'simple' really can do in a few more knots !

Can you make it to BSC this weekend ? Variety is the spice of ... well you know.  And after the GRF 'crack' you owe a beer or two...

Hi Mike,

hmmm....I am not sure yet.

I am picking D-One up Friday afternoon so I can get a whole day sailing in a force 5 at QM....after that I might hitch it and show my face at Burf.

What time is first start?

Tim

I'm guessing but around 11.00 is standard - but park/launch time is low.  F5 ... should be interesting but a bit lighter on Sunday

Mike L.

PS - As it is a pursuit event you should have plenty of extra time ..

D-One - PY?

Good question!  It's interesting that Sten's original take on this was 950 but this was based on a relatively short period of testing so we felt a need to get more input.  We have now had the chance to pace the D-One against a number of other boats in Chichester Harbour and other UK locations as well as having the feedback from the more exotic Lago di Garda.

Guess what!  We have concluded that 950 is our recommended PY and we will be monitoring results on a race by race basis and analysing this information.  I will give this forum feedback on this as more data comes to hand.  With 4 boats racing from now on in the UK at different venues and courses against widely varying handicap fleets we should have some seriously meaningful stats soon.

A nice weekend to all, at least it should blow away any cobwebs
