Two Handicaps please
I am still hoping to sail the d-one shortly, however one thing I question is the wing adjustment. I have not seen any pictures with the production wings set at the inner position and I expect it might look a bit odd? All of the photos including those with luca sailing show the wings out and all the tests I have read talk about them set out. Given that the boat was deigned for us bigger lads I am surprised that 20cm is disappearing from §the width for 85kg plus or am I just getting this wrong? In that respect the different rig sizes of the RS100 seems a better way forward. WIth the D-one I would think I had bought a beautiful boat and then have to sail it b**tardised with the wings in. I realise that Luca has designed it with one design in mind hence weight compensation and also handicapping is not relevant where he sails. However, I think it would really seriously broaden the appeal in the UK if two handicaps were promoted, one when sailing it 'equalised' and a second slightly lower number for big lads using full wings? If this is promoted from the outset, then we all win? JavaScript:AddSmileyIcon(' ')
Rodney any feel for handicaps yet? |

Sounds good, how about contenders, rs300s, blazes? 3 singlehanders with different sets of skills to sail well, and you're unlikely to stick your foot thru' them! Edited by mongrel |

Rodney Good idea ... and encourage Tim along to BSC again this Sunday. Worth chatting over these ideas in person and on GRF's other thread. Mike L.

There was a time, many years ago, when most of the single handed classes got together once a year for a handicap open meeting with a difference, called 'Classmaster'. Each class entered three boats and the helms swapped boats for every race. It was great fun and a very social (for social read alcoholic) weekend but sadly, it all ended when an enthusiastic Finn sailor leaped into a Moth and put his foot through the bottom. Perhaps we could resurrect this event and ban heavy feet?? Rodney Edited by rodney |

Good Idea Mike, and I've started a demo dates thread which would be a
useful spot to announce demo events and the boats available. |

Well - M4 corridor ? Easy access, Easy launching, etc etc. (and a good bar ...for all that apres sail BS) More than happy to see if I can help organise a multi single-hander gathering at Burghfield one Saturday (near J12) in the next few weeks. I'll talk with those who decide these things nowdays if there is support and a 'free' day. Its my home club and we do some of our testing there anyway (Halo, Blaze, etc), RS use it as a test-a-boat location and a multi-class single-hander blast would be great. Good central southern location. Say with a minimum windspeed and a 'Go' confirmed via this forum the day before ..... might have to put a few quid in the RNLI / Sailibility dish to help persuade. That was called work Steve, i have to save up for that carbon boom some how
Grumpf the 300 would have to be there to show you ALL, what a proper single handed hiker is!! In all seriousness we keep talking about it but it would be good to have a Y&Y get together/boat swap test day! |
