Still sorting some dates but any time, by appointment, on Hayling
Island - subject to tides and winds of course. Will publish confirmed
dates, elsewhere, here soon.  Where are you based?

Rodney

I'm in Rutland so HI is a bit of a trek, but not impossible

* just in case I forget to let off that traveller when I
tack...

James will have to have a go in a D1 just to learn what a traveller does..... you don't need to adjust the traveller to tack, just to pinch or foot upwind and centre the main downwind.

your helmet might be handy if you left the main cleated

Well tbh I've been thoroughly enjoying sailing it as it is, just seeing what it
will do in its standard form, and we've not been having an ideal 'wind' year.

I've got the trap wires on, but the spinnaker I was sort of waiting for that
guy to come back off vacation then time went by then I thought buy a vareo
kit.. And here we are, so much to do so little time.

Just for the record....

I actually have'nt read any posts prior to me creating a login today.....theres rather a lot of them to be reading at work and getting away with it.

Goodness only knows what has been said to provoke such crazy posts to a new member.

I didnt think for one moment that it would look like "viral marketing" otherwise I can assure you I would not have bothered to put myself up for abuse.

I only read a piece on the BBC website the other day related to Amazon marketing to understand what you mean by the term, I guess my head is buried deep into servers to understand marketing speak.

I am glad I have nothing to do with the industry if that is what appears to be happening.

To say that I have been shocked would be an understatement.

If any of you want to view unbiased ramblings on the D-One and hopefully the beginnings of a UK fleet, just follow the blog, I shall be starting it properly on Saturday evening.

That said...Apologies accepted from all.

Thanks for the post Mike, you are right....you do know me.

Nothing else needs to be said on the matter its just ridiculous.

Tim

Good luck Tim, i am looking forward to reading your blog.  Rodney, i think we all agree that the Italians have rubbed the forum up the wrong way and actually created a bit of a negative vibe about the D-one.  I'm sure the boat would be great and probably perfect for me, unfortunately i couldnt afford one.  I actually had the OK from the wife to order a new 100.  I spoke with Charlie at RS and bottled it when i started adding in prices of Combis etc.  I suspect in a few years time i will end up in a 100, but i am a victim of fashion and won't buy either boat till they are established.  I wish you luck and would love to have a try in a D-one if you ever come to the midlands.

btw- that's a joke, I've always thought the D-One looks like a bit of
goer and I'll make sure I wear protection*...

James,

Great to see a picture of you in your Phantom.

Good heavens....

Managed to read the whole thread at last.....

Things did get a tad heated didn't they....I cringed rather a lot.

So now I see I should have read all that gumph before I placed my head on the block.

I certainly wasnt expecting it.

Sooooo.....the wind for Sat looks a bit lively....I might choose to sail @ home club instead of at sea for maiden voyage. Sunday ok though.

Is there anything in particular that you would like me to comment on to satisfy your thirst for information?

Tim

How soon you get grit trapped in the rudder blade just off the beach in a
shore dump.
