Surely consumers have a free choice !!   Why knock someone for their choice .... just because you might disagree.  Why suggest one possible explanation for an enthusuastic posting is a commercial connection ?  Or is that just another aspect of 'viral marketing' (vile marketing ?)

For the record I do not have a commercial connection to D1 either (I'm Blaze / Halo) but do know Tim from years ago - he wanted something different this time, seems to have found it and as far as I know is still holding down the a regular job outside the (cottage) industry !

We saw him trying the D1 out at BSC along with others on a standard test day (we were working on the nearly finished Halo rig).  I have no connection with the D1 either btw ( but we did 'pace it' ;-) on the water of course).  Just think of it like marmite ....  I might not eat it myself but it is a free world or are we all to be told what is 'good' for us ..... yet again.

It's a free world.

But just don't whine when folk disagree with a commercially inspired post
and accuse them of 'bullying' . I'm pleased he's a genuine guy and hope he
isn't too peeved with the reception he's had.

You on the other hand should get back to putting a kite on that boat of
yours and giving us what we wanted ages ago..

Had you done so we wouldn't be having all this stress..

Well Rodney, one thing to learn about a forum, it is not a Borg style
collective, it's a mix of various opinions, not everyone bullied Tim.

I did, I apologised, I still think you put him up to it, but hey so would I
have done following the P.R. disaster you and the eyties have so far
managed to tarnish this boats reputation with in an attempt at viral
marketing.

Had I done it I might have suggested he came on some time back with
the question.

"hey guys I'm thinking of dumping my Rs100 deposit in favour of the D1
Fed up wth waiting, whaddya think?" Hell I'm fed up with waiting I'd do
the same in a heartbeat if I thought I could sail it off my beach, but no, it
wasn't quite like that and it ellicited the reaction it did, I'm not even sure
you backing him up is helping but whatever...

Forum folk are mostly genuine blokes who sail, talk about each others
experiences adventures gripes groans etc, So when someone enters the
fray with a single post about nothing more than a commercial activity
then doubt inevitably creeps in. I'm sorry for that.

But that's the way it is.

What's a Borg????

I have historically developed a class fleet at my sailing club building numbers from 3 to 26 in a matter of months with no commercial involvement at all.  If I had been able to use a forum as a platform (not possible in the days when all the cars were black) I guess I could have done much better.  Maybe Tim would like to develop a fleet of D-Ones at his sailing club and surely this is a platform for this?  I think this forum would be much more healthy if other felt free to post without a vicious backlash.  If people are unhappy with a post it would be much better if they respond with a little courtousy - call me old fashioned - I know you will!

If I could have stopped the Italian postings I would have but I guess that this forum is open to all.

It seems to me that everyone starts with a single post so does your comment mean that new members to this forum are unwelcome?

I was only aiming my response to the ones who bullied Tim and they know who they are.

By the way I am never more happy than when talking sailing but I must admit I prefer to have a pint in my hand at the time

Why don't you invite Tim to give you feedback on his new D-One experiences rather than scare him off the forum for life?

Just come and try the D-One and meet us sometime.

Greame

Thought you were going to show us how to do the 'Frankenblaze' properly this Summer ..... Sorry unless it planes upwind with relative ease in reasonable breeze it is not for us and it is better with more of a 'compromise' hull if you don't hence the current approaches.  Nothing wrong with them but not one of the particular 'niches' we are pursuing.

Give me a call sometime and we'll see if we can encourage you further with the FB .... for entertainement value if nothing more.  I don't doubt it would be bloody quick so who knows.

Back on subject .... Good luck to Tim.  And guys whatever your choice just get over it and enjoy - this is all beginning to sound like a footie supporters forum, you know "my team is best - discuss" thread.

Still sorting some dates but any time, by appointment, on Hayling Island - subject to tides and winds of course. Will publish confirmed dates, elsewhere, here soon.  Where are you based?

bugger that Uncle Rodney- I might like how it sails and that would create
a hell of a dilemma now wouldn't it... and no I'm not talking about eating
humble pie on the looks thing, these things may grow on you over time,
besides I'm sure she has a lovely personality. But if I liked how she sails,
(and why wouldn't I???) then maybe that investment wouldn't be so hard
to come to terms with considering your excellent lead-times.

I don't think anyone has attacked anybody here, but in all seriousness do
please re-read Tim's original post and tell me again it didn't seem like a
set-up job. He's admitted that's how it's came across already, albeit by
mistake... 'nuff said on that though, let's hear the feedback on the sailing
from a regular guy, that'll be a good read over the next few weeks.

I've got to get you out in a D-One just for the hell of it

It's always good to get feedback and yours would be more than welcome.  Who knows you could fall in love but if not I know you'll have a damn good time.

I guess that Tim is a newbie and you are right it comes over a little biased!!!!  I had a call from him a couple of days ago and he said he can hardy sleep thinking of getting he hands on his new boat so maybe the enthusiasm???

Whatever, your choice of boat looks good and I am looking forward to trying one myself!

Well good luck to tim i know how hard it is to find the right boat to suit your own sailing style i know it took me a while before i found the boat that suits me but my problem is i like two so one of each was the best way for me.

Anyway have great fun in the d one it looks alot better now than the first one we all saw.Is this the first one sold in the uk ????
