3rd over the line 2nd

You must be some kind of Zen Blaze master to sail that close to handicap
... unless the competition is questionable

Probably more the latter than the former..

huh? the blaze is pretty easy to sail to its handicap, seeing as its stupidly bias.

In the end I got ahead & won on the water, but after handicap, back to forth after the Wayfarer & 2 Miracles.  Pha!!

Which miracles beat you at margate then??

We've got a few Miracles here. I was beaten by Gaye Lamb (3rd) & Dave Bull (1st).... Dave got a huge cheer in the bar afterwards as i'm sure it's his first ever win..... Come & join us for a sail sometime...... nice friendly growing club........

Took my little girl out for a drift round the lake. Helpfully some of the other cadets were playing the 'collect the floating balls' game. She was impressed at how well daddy could steer the boat so she could pick up the balls (sod the sailing, she just liked the game).

Probably her last sail of this year though as we are getting in to wetsuit territory....

Spent the latter half of last week sailing around on the Norfolk Broads - my little rig was only half above the reeds, took me a while to realise just how big the wind shadow was! That led to a lot of rowing, and then paddling once a rowlock went swimming... but some excellent sailing in beautiful surroundings. Saw some amazing old yachts, met a wherry and followed her downriver for a while, and had many comments along the lines of "Oh look, a Mirror, I had one of those" etc. Never did make it to one of the Broads as there wasn't enough wind to get very far in a day... another trip needed!

Funny I had a headache over the weekend, but mine was induced by
birthday bike ride and coming to in a gay bar at two in the morning.

Of course you're right about the flag v's sound, but it would be a foolish
fellow indeed to wait for the flags to drop at Hythe. If you could see them
that is and you weren't surrounded by Containers & Phantoms snapping at
your stern.

Grumpf, I mighty be wrong, and I'm sure you know this, but it's the flag that counts, not the sound signal.

I had an excellent first Start Racing session on Saturday followed by a great new members social.

Sunday was a hideous, headache inducing day for being RO.  Lucky me.  They (four lasers, three toppers, one of which dropped out) managed one short race in very questionable breeze at lunchtime before I went home for a potent combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol....
the same, but different...

Had a nice sail on saturday in the five with about five to six knots of breeze  first race we lost first place on corrected time by three seconds so a very handy second. The second race of the day about the same just a bit more tide anyway this we won on corrected time by four seconds over a dead heat on time for second so a good day for us still leading the series.

Well done to enterprising a great feeling to win your first event.

No sailing for me on sunday as had to work

Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.
