BTW, our Mediterranean is a way bigger than your channel, and Mr
Berlusconi is no less ridiculous than politicians loaning X-rated movies
claiming expenses for them. Cheers
I hate defending GRF but...

To be fair that chap was not a politician, he was actually Burlusconi's
lawyer. Although he did put them on his wife's expenses, she is the
politico, and as far as we know, he didn't hire a load of "models" for a
party. Its a bit like comparing the D-one to a Vareo, and as a matter of
geography, GRF sails on the North sea, not the channel, which technically,
global warming permitting does go on a long way.

Can anyone explain to me why the D-One rig is unstayed? As far as I can
see the only advantage of an unstayed rig seems to be the ability to let
the boom out further, this is negated by the asymmetric. Looking at the
pics with the inverting masts on Garda, i would think it will get expensive
in shallower waters we have on the south coast, when you park it into the
back of a decent sized wave. I suspect thats the reason behind the
shrouds, no forestay on the 100. Looks like you best keep the vang on
and tie a knot in the main for the gybes. If it does work, will be very
interesting to see the section as an unstayed rig on a say a N12.

OT Mode On.

For thrut's sake, the guy has no connection with Mr. Berlusconi. That's
another story. And was her wife (the politician) that claimed the
expenses, not him.

And for geography, The Mediterranean is more than 3 times larger than
the North Sea

Please, please show me the pic where you see the mast inverting. The D-
One mast have nothing to do with N12 as the mast is wing-shaped and
rotating, similar to the one of some multihulls, The boom only goes up
and down.
You could check the section by looking at the latest videos posted by
Rodney, or wait for my next visit at my club (I apologize for having shot
no pictures yet...)

Brookesy, We can let people try a D-One by arrangement on Hayling Island but we will also be running test days and weekends through the Autumn and Winter.  Where are you based?  Maybe we should arrange some testing at your sailing club?

On another issue I am just back from a few days sailing and see that the Girls on this thread are getting a little bitchy so will be respond to some of the other postings now.

Here is an example of the MPS rigging guide ... maybe a useful example as we have had good feedback on it ...

http://www.mustoskiff.com/downloads/Musto-Skiff-Rigging-Guid e-v0.4.pdf
Rick

Thanks for that!  The MPS guide is clearly very easy to floow and our Rigging Guide will follow the same type of format.  All input is gratefully received.

Peaky, Come and try a D-One and then you will be able to judge whether it's Devotion(e) or he's been D-One'd

Good idea!  Quite happy to do that when RS have finished their development work.  Would be an interesting excercise.

Also makes me laugh how he thinks that carbon makes it faster, not really the case is it...

Carbon is lighter and stiffer, so it's both faster and will give a much longer competitive life than the same boat out of fibre glass.

Proper developed by top guys?

You cheeky italian t**t.

Developed by a bunch of lakesailing pussies that couldn't get off our local
beach in a sea breeze never mind a half decent sailing wind.

It's ugly as sin, looks like a lake sailing garbage truck and sailed by volley
wearing crimes against fashion humanity.

Developed by top guys ha.

I hadn't planned to dignify this with a reply but I can't resist it.

For the record the D-One was developed by a bunch of World Class Sailors (including our own Richard Stenhouse) who have sailed all over the world, even in the wet, cold and windy UK, and often in conditions where most mere mortals stay at home.

I suggest that all you armchair critics come and sail the boat and then try not to smile!  Email me for an appointment at rodney@suntouched.co.uk

What a plum!  The only reason the D-one gets bad press is the way you guys back handidly sl*g off the 100, which in my limited view will be a more successful in the UK market.

Do us both a favour and look back on the postings.  You will find that I have not criticised any other manufacturers.  We are the UK dealers for the D-One and the only people who have posted here with some involvement are Luca, Richard Stenhouse and myself.  All other postings are independent and outside our control.  I must say that I cringe at some of the things they have to say but I guess they get emotive due to their enthusiasm for the D-One.

I am confident that the D-One will stand on it's merits and will gain strong support in the UK.

As always your input is welcome!

Don’t miss the Burghfield SC over weekend of 19th / 20th September for testing the D-One – email me at rodney@suntouched.co.uk
