Hi Womble,

Like many clubs these days we don't have fleets anymore. We sometimes get 2 L2000's on the water and there are usually 3 Lasers out but generally it's a completely mixed fleet.

The members that want single fleet racing and there are quite a few, travel to open events.

As for changing club, here's what we would miss: ........ Good friends (yes I do have some ), large onsite parking, large onsite camping, club owns it's own beach, easy launching, good social scene and top notch cadet training (our Grand Daughter is in the cadets).........

edit...........within walking distance of the bigggest Marina in Europe, cruiser races (crew slots available for members). No prejudice between cats and dinghies, little or no vandalism. No megolomaniac com members. No Prejudice between cats and dinghies ....did I already mention that one?

Your club does sound good although I am sorry to hear about the lack of any decent local classes. Presumably if there is a big cadet fleet then there will be a gap in a few years for a class for them to feed into. If you don’t want to move clubs maybe pick a class that you think you can build at the club that the older cadets can sail and maybe you can tempt a few other adults from other classes to also buy one?

I have just worked out what club it is, there are plenty of other clubs within 30 minutes drive, personally I would be considering other local clubs that have bigger fleets.

Cats and Lasers not for me I'm afraid

Kids grown up, still quite fit and quite happy to trek around the opens for my single fleet experience.

Thanks for the input though.
