The time trial - no hiding behind your team-mates there! Such a pity we can't run a sailing equivalent. PY racing is closest, but without being able to control the wind so that everyone gets the same quantity/quality, pure time trialling with individual starts is not on... |

But the wind can change during the day of a road bike TT. The person starting last could end up with a much stronger head wind than the first starter of the day, or vice versa. Unless they're in an indoor track, even the TT has the potential to be reasonably unfair. |
