The time trial - no hiding behind your team-mates there!

Such a pity we can't run a sailing equivalent. PY racing is closest, but without being able to control the wind so that everyone gets the same quantity/quality, pure time trialling  with individual starts is not on...

But the wind can change during the day of a road bike TT. The person
starting last could end up with a much stronger head wind than the first
starter of the day, or vice versa. Unless they're in an indoor track, even the
TT has the potential to be reasonably unfair.

Yeah but all the top GC contenders start just 3 mins apart so it's pretty even.
