Lynall Boats carry stock of EPS parts, including masts! Shouldnt be a problem getting hold of replacements. |

Saturday - Woke up, looked out the window, "Oh its not *that* windy .. Arive at Grafham to see a peak gust of 36, averaging 30 with lots of white caps ... leave the boat firmly strapped down. Watch the Cherub and 4k go out for a sail (Mad people.) and headed over to the LandRover show at Billing Aquadrome. (Exhibitors pass was handed to me .. I'm not complaining!) Sorely interested in getting one again now ..
Anyway, back on topic .. Arrived at BLYM to: Dave.Blakesley: "Get your kit on, we're going for a sail" Dug my kit out of the car, hopped into the 200 .. Never let a crew drive. 5 minutes later we were swimming .. 5 minutes after that, another swim 5 minutes after that .. I think you can see where I am going! Deepest I've been immersed in BLYM this year so far, its still a bit on the chilly side! I'll stick to my nice dry capsises in future! I let Dave himself explain how much (of himself!) he damaged! Definitely bruised. Everywhere. To be honest, I think it was the right decision to call off the monohull dinghies. It was pretty wild, and the long, long beat up the Kent shore would have been murderous in a hiking boat. The offwind legs would have been mental in the b14 though. Certainly would have got round faster in the Hurricane if: A: I'd actually sailed on one before, and so knew how hard to push it as far as hull flying goes. B: we hadn't peeved it in twice on the run to the finish... The walk back in to Thorpe Bay at low tide was a bit of a pain too. But it was good fun all round. |

I'm a complete wreck after Filey Regatta! 15-20 knots and some ridiculously big waves on Saturday, which caused some real problems. I struggled to foil upwind as the waves were knocking the wand about and sending confusing signals to the flap on the foil, and downwind was just mental, the foil broke out of the waves a few times resulting in some spectacular pitchpoles. Sunday was perfect with flat water and 10-12 knots, the boat flew really well but I had a pin break in race one and the u-bolt that the kicker attaches to break before race two so no results, but a very memorable sail across to Flamborough and back before the first race.

I understand 2 Canoes sailed from Wilsonian SC over to the
start of the Nore Race. They found it was abandoned so one sailed back and the other sailed the course and then sailed back. I'm impressed. |

Ah, that explains the one I saw at the mouth of the Medway. Can't remember seeing the other.

Filey regatta was awesome on the Saturday. Windstrength as Jamie says but the waves were 6ft and running AGAINST the wind! Upwind on starboard tack the waves were right underneath you - very quick... but 2nd reach was dead into the waves - bouncy! This is a 'spike' no doubt but gives an indication of the waves, and the reading was probably taken going upwind!

Oh I don't know, that could be a genuine reading, you were going nearly as quick as that blue Albacore, and we know how quick they go! |

I also saw an Enterprise going far quicker than I have ever seen one go before. Quite surreal seeing it surf upwind at 12 knots! Selling your Moth Jamie? There's some 300s for sale... |

I know, trouble is they still look a bit like Moths and I think I've been mentally scarred. Not keen on this hiking malarkey either! |
