Mike, you could try introducing a thimble to ease the bending of the line around the shackle and also limit wear.

I had just about decided to try that, hard eyes in all the splices. Just waiting to get paid now.

Mike, I think its fairly clear why your kicker snapped. Most armid fibres do not like sharp corners. Hard thimbles is an absolute must if you are going to use this stuff, after all you'd put a thimble on your shrouds loops and they are wire!

I had the kids out in the Miracle again, I was very impressed with the six-year old, she seems to be a natural sailor. She even pointed to a gust on the water and said if we go over there we'll go faster! Someone might be getting an Oppy for Christmas at this rate...

Helm wimped out, then the monohull dinghy section of the Nore Race was cancelled anyway. I ended up on the dark side- a Hurricane 5.9 helm was looking for a stand in crew.

I'm now quite bruised, battered and sore. Damn good fun though.

Blown out both days, 4.2 weather ended up windsurfing, typical buy a new
boat... Ensure it's windy for the rest of the summer.

Windy Medway.  When the wind screams through the rigging I know its not racing anymore but just getting round.  It was about a 5 but some big gusts and some big holes.  Very difficult rigging the boat and once we were out we realised the spinnaker was rigged incorrectly.  It was OK on starboard but on a tight reach to one mark we had to bear away about 90 degrees when slammed by a gust and the crew wanted it down.  After it was down she suggested we head back and since 1. we were late to the start and 2. the spinnaker was wrong, I agreed.

I looked for a keener crew for the afternoon but there were none and if anything the wind came up a bit more.  The racing may we'll have been abandoned anyway.

No, Redback, there were just two takers - both in the Medium Fleet - the Laser 2 boys and your old crew in the EPS. Both got to the leeward mark, 23, more or less, but there it ended for the EPS. The 2 struggled upwind until after the umpteenth blow-over they gave up.

Tragically, they got the EPS more or less home intact then capsized it under tow 20 metres from the beach, losing the sail and the board. The board was recovered but the sail is currently making its eerie way downriver underwater, never to be seen again presumably; gutting for Richard.

As my 300 is in my back garden for its yearly service I pressed the 3000 into action.
Great fun on my own 3 sail reaching .. waving daggerboard (may be I should have gone forward a bit but it was too much fun )
Even managed to find a new way to fall in. I think it should be called the bow wave. Tack come out too slow sink the stern, gust hits, stern sinks more, slide back , stern sinks, finally fall into the rudder ... must have been good from the bank

Speed really doesn't matter that much it's all about the smiles

Only danger here is I'm starting to prefer this trapezing
