Cheap and cheerful rules out the Comet Versa, which is a nice boat. Main thing with a 3 year old on board is to have a boat you only need to spend 10% of your attention on sailing. If not worried about speed, try a Mirror for size.

Hi all

many thanks for the suggestions and thoughts on the matter.  Much appreciated.

I'll definitely consider the Miracle (I don't  mind  wooden boats, actually like looking after them).  I also like the photo.  I hadn't considered it, but on the radar now! (thanks!).

Light and manageable (in particular), room and  not  too tipy is what I am looking for.

The GP14 sounds like a  possibiliy.  Will consider the 'left field options' aswell. Planning to view a  Topper Cruz soon, but a cheap and  cheerful  option is preferred.

thanks again

  Fin.

Absolutely perfect, except they're like rocking horse sh*t. Why no-one ever made more Wanderers is beyond me.

If you're based in Ireland, it's got to be a GP. There will be loads for sale over there.

There are GRP miracles, just a bit few and far between. My dad owned a
miracle and when I started sailing we would all be out, me, my dad, my
mum and my brother. There's plenty of room and it's an easy boat to sail.
Thumbs up from me.
