I was on rescue yesterday. Really should of taken a few more life jackets to lie on, and a good book.

Only job was to tow back 2 becalmed Topaz's.

Still topped up my tan.

That sounds exactly like what I've just organised for,
umm, me!

My wife and I ran away to Austria in March and secretly
got married. Some of my mates now feel a little stag do

consisting of an afternoon of Pico Racing, followed by a
pub meal and some liquid refreshments. Some of them have
never sailed before so I reckon there could be a few
giggles to be had.

Did the weds eve race crewing a 49er, we had never sailed
together before but somehow won on handicap! Would have
preferred some wind and probably losing though

Yesterday evening out in an RS200 ...

New invention was being tested - Weed Magnet Foils. You couldnt go 30 seconds without snagging some weed ... Great rafts of the stuff floating on the surface. (Gonna be fun dragging that lot out on Saturday ... )

What do you use to drag the weed out?

We are having huge weed problems on our river this year, we can cut it and disturb it, but with not much flow on the river currently it just sits there and is a real pain to try and drag out by hand. We have been thinking of looking at getting like a fishing net to try and drag it out? any ideas?

Good sail last night, although got a bit light on the last lap of the course.

We are currently considering:

Towing chains around behind the comittee boats
Dragging anchors through the worst parts
Garden Rakes - Easily collects it off the surface, and can dig downwards if you need to.

Weed collection platform is a Funboat .. tied to one side of the boat, work from the other.

Alternatively, send your fastest 5 sailors out in 5 fast boats .. and then everyone else stay away from them!

When anglers are trying to clear a swim they use a rake head on rope and drag it through the area that they want to clear:

I've not tried it but it looks like it could be effective ?

call up troy lake in ricky and ask to borrow their weed cutter!! They have dreadful problems with the stuff, could almost walk on it one year, with just a small acre in the middle they could sail on, pretty much walking the boats out!! So they purchased what is essentially a barge with an enormous lawnmower on the back...
