You never know, Luca and Phil may have been ahead of their time in creating the first retro/ironic dinghy design.

Think new Mini, new Beetle, new Fiat 500.....

The rather rotunned women on Eastenders is more attractive than the D-One!!!!!!

The rig does indeed look better now, but Jacks right, the blue deck and the off centre pole make it look more like that Bosun at the Bloody Mary than a serious raceboat.

in the down wind shots they should have the boom in alot more. they would go faster with the main not choking the kite slot and the leech of the main would keep the mast straighter.

I don't know if the wings have grown I have not seen the production D1 but they look abit wider than the wings I sailed with. a comfortable hiking possition will make sailing nicer with having to hike upwind and downwind with the assy.

I would expect the boom is one of the prototype ones there are quite a few of different stiffness being tested.

the events Luca was involved with in the Mustoskiff where alot of fun, I am sure Luca will go one better with the Devoti one races and his plans to make sailing more fun.

Amen to that!

Check out the bend in the boom, even a windsurfer wouldn't tolerate that.

Mainsails look a lot better to me. Materials and panel layout suggest Hydes - any unstayed mast will look a little strange when powered up with the kite, but I reckon they're decently stiff unlike the MX ray, and this will go upwind, unlike the MX ray. Racks look like they've been set a little higher if anything, strange despite the boats, ahem, comfortable freeboard. The booms / main foot looks to have been cut a little higher to suit.

Nice set of photos though. Decent breeze and evening sunshine on Torbole, shorts, tshirts and bare feet. Luca knows how to put on a show for hs mates!

shame there's a touch of the MX-Ray about that rig...

sorry it is still the ugly love child of a MX-Ray / Fin / laser EPS styled by someone still stuck in the 70's. Blue decks, off centerline pole. The concept might be great, it may even sail well, but heavens take the thing to a decent product design studio to make it somewhere near this century.

Latest photos of Devoti one, looks great. a few control lines look like they need cutting to the right lengths like the one on the tack of the kite, but nice looking sails that fit the mast. looks like Luca has improved it from the prototype I sailed with all his testing in Hyeres and Garda.

Yes - It does work and can be very neat and will be bolt on/off.  Unusually the foredeck is concave on the standard hull of course.  Ever wondered just why ?  Forestay on top of shallow hoop set back about 20cm from the bow and sock to port side of mast.  We've been talking about the sails for some time and it will not be excessively large, and with a clew that will be quite high to give good sighting under it.   The kite may well sheet to the front of the wings  as an option (we still need to try that one with the right sail) and the set-up will feature a shortish pole.  Both these features and the flat cut and modest size mean we will be able to sheet it at a wide angle relative to the hull.  These factors will hopefully allow us to go deeper than otherwise if required or relatively high if the course demands.  The basic boat is fast on a reach anyway so it should be particulalry interesting on those angles (ie not too limited or restricted to windward/leeward).  We see this as a club option for the spinnaker enthusiasts that will be easy to handle and that still allows the boat to be raced in its respective class whenever that is wanted.  Now if we make it will they come ?

No promise of production though if it is not good enough, and no rush to get it out 'first'.  There lies the rough road to disapppointment for all .. we've all seen it in the past.  Lastly - this will definately be a controlled 'in-house only' project.   Forum input always noted though !

I am very interested, i probably couldnt afford a new boat (dependant on how much they cost) but would be very very keen to bolt onto an slightly older hull.

Looking forward to seeing it.

will you call it the frankenblaze ...

Probably not ...  But maybe the prototype could carry the name - I'm getting attached to it as well.
