Ive decided now to sell the 420 as im mainly focussing on sailing the Laser. I'll be sailing the boat with my dad and we weigh about 18 - 19 stone. I think we'll do the circuit when we get used to the boat. Sail on a small lake, mainly looking for an assymetric, easily de-powered and something we can sail in strongish winds without having a huge problem. We have been thinking of the RS200 and cant think of anything else. Any ideas? |

Are you sure you want an asymmetric on a small lake?
Just checking... |

Well the lake where i sail is narrow but long so with the wind direction we almost always get it means there is a broad reach right the way down (about quarter to half a mile long). Plus there a huge estuary right next to it for when the tides in.. Edited by sailor_420 |

RS 400, i would suggest that you would be alright in the 400 inland, trees and stuff, usually lighter winds.

Yeah i think it would be tough with our weight really. I can only think of the 200 really, not much else springs to mind.....

I'd recomend trying a scorpion. Yes not an assy, but far more fun on a small pond, where you can really crank the boat up on a tight kite reach... and that broad reach down your lake: there'll be no need to gybe.

L2000 would be good choice. quite similar to a 200. tank of a boat. really gets going in heavier winds but is still quite managable. |
