Spot, I can speak English, American, Australian, New Zealand, some Scottish, a little bit of Irish, Antarctica. Oh and I can order beer in French. If I am in a foreign country and they don't speak any of the languages I can (which is very unusual) I find that pointing and shouting loud and slow gets me by.

ive done spanish for the past 5 years, i i thought i'd lernt alot but then when the spanish start jabbering at ya, ur like W T F!?!?!

I've studied french for 6 years and like you when i hear them speak it goes straight over my head. they all talk so fast. i'm better with reading and writing the french. I can handle very basic spanish and i mean basic...

oh dont even get me started on french i thought i was good at talking and writing when it came to the crazy listneing exam i just sat there with a blank page - lol  started imajining "friends" where joey starts to speak french - very funny

lol i think we must have got it pretty easy then, they changed the sylabus for our yr and like half the room nealry burst outlaughing with how easy it was.

i did german for a couple of years, but dropped itr due to pressure for diene deutschen rellies to converse with them in german. I do french GCSE, but i'm crap at it - "je ne comprend pas" and "je voudrais un chocalté chaud avec creme chantillé" tends to get you by when skiing .

I agree with Dave, speaking loudly and slowly in english in a frnech accent and using lots of hand gestures suffices!
