For about £10 you can get a hook that goes in the hole on the mast with a ring on the bottom which you can then shackle the wires on. A bit like the 5000 or 800's (i think) |

If it really must be done then I would rather crimp a second wire to the existing trapeze than be drilling holes in the mast. Edited by Doug.H |

So, how would one go about doing this?
Is it another hole in the mast then attach a wire, or is it just another wire attached to the existing one? Sounds like just the thing I'm looking for, we often get overpowered. |

My brother and a freind sailed a 800 once, they're weight probably adds up to about 15stone and were both flat wiring in <5 knots of breeze! Kite up and everything, they said it was really easy and stable...didn't look like it though

I stand corrected on this years events ... my comment was based on previous nationals results. 2006 Nationals - Top 3 all male 2005 Nationals - Top 2 all male 2004 Nationals - Top 5 all male 2003 Nationals - Top 3 all male I guess this year the make up/teams must have moved around a bit and perhaps better women are sailing the class; good for them. Of the six 800 circuit events so far this year mixed crews have won four and come second in the other two. In fact a mixed crew has won the last two Eurocups as well... I know LDC put a lot of effort into making the boat suitable for mixed crews and the results seem to back them up.... Cheers Ian |

Er, yes it is, the 800 is designed so that you can put the racks out and sail it single wire. Not very popular in the UK, however a few holiday companies run them in this configuration though, often with ally spars.

I think to be a credible lightweights boat it should have a consistent record of mixed crews winning at National and International level over many years... Now there must be a boat that matches that, let me try and think...
