Laser vortex Shroud Tension

I've never actually seen any tension figures quoted. Most people set the shrouds to give the desired mast rake (see website/manual), set the lowers to control mast bend for the prevailing conditions (the main way to power up or down in the vortex) and yank on the forestay with the block and cleat HARD if you have the asymetric or with a trapeze line if you have the standard.

There is a rigging guide for the vortex which you can get through the class association if you didn't get one with your boat.

The tuning guide is available to class members only.  You can get in touch via the contacts section of the website and if you're a member, you'll get access to the members section. If not Join - again via the website!

Better still, come to the Nationals at Mayflower SC, Plymouth (September 15th / 16th) and pick peoples brains - we're a very helpful bunch.

In fact, the day before, the Class association is running a training day sponsored by ASAP International. Rigging / tuning will be dealt with as well as sailing/ on the water issues. Class members get it free thanks to ASAP International. Subject to availability non members are allowed but will have to pay.

Although most boats will be racing with kites, there are usually a few without, and there is a big  prize for the first Non Asymmetric.
