They have a hull weight and a sailing weight. I would think hydraulic rams would count as being 'essential fixed fittings which are normally screwed, glued or bolted
in place' so would be part of the hull.

Question I meant to ask at the time, does the hydraulic gear count towards you're all-up weight for measurement purposes in an Albi, I'm assuming it must do as it can't be that light?

surely this is the way forwards....??  That would enable you to connect to a really small loop, and lead the feeder tubes through inside the frame.....either that or you can use it to snap the mast or rip the side off your boat....!!  I understand that you have to watch the tensions pretty carefully with these - especially if you forget to let off the forestay....!!

just find a new 14 and copy it, they probably have higher shroud loads than you, and they work, but i cant see why verniers arent good enough, its not like that hulls not going to flex under load and ruin your perfect settings anyway...

The 7525 dimension is remarkably upright as most pictures will show, so no area gain by going further forward.  I suggested that moving for or aft is usually detrimental. Out of interest do you hang the rig to windward in a blow to reduce area and increase lift.
I'm looking forward to watching you sailing the V Twin!

On the FD the genoa/jib was all important and the leach tension critical, thus the necessity for a variable rake rig since the jib clew was right at the deck.

As is said above a modern dinghy should not need a variable mast rake. Graeme, have you required to alter the mast rake on your AltO for diferent wind conditions.  Myself and others have found that to stray far from the 7525mm dimension then the pointing and performance suffers what ever the weather. As you have found it is a very well balanced boat.
