I'd not really think that different forums are in competition with each other in any meaningful way - I flip through several when I should be doing something useful with my time, and anywhere to read about boats when not sailing is good. The Y&Y forum I find good for writing down the 1st thing that comes into my head. It may well be that the Bearface forum idea will encourage me to actually think about things before posting, or it may be that in thinking about things I never actually get around to posting at all.

I think, if it's the same guy, I might have met him once up at Burghfield
when I went up to have a look at the Halo just after I picked up my Blaze.

He seemed like a reasonable guy, if it was in fact the same bloke, but then
some folk think I'm a reasonable guy..... when I'm not posting bollox on
forums that is.

Had a quick look, seems like far too many flaws in his "reporting" to bother
going over. He sounds like someone very much on the outside having a
moan about something where he has no clue what's actually on the inside.

I have used a fair few forums also. With regard to moderation forums fall into 2 categories, either moderated or un-moderated. Y&Y's moderation is in my opinion pretty damn good. How many non spam posts get deleted per year?

 The old fashioned attitudes highlited in un-moderated sailing forums where bigoted, partisan, abuse pours forth (not from all members granted) is what holds this sport back. The rest of the world has moved on. Most people on the outside looking in (particularly at SA) wouldn't touch sailing with a barge pole.
