I would have recommended a Lightning, we do have extensive family experience of this class but there is no PY for the cut down sail and she was determined to buy new, so a Claridge boat would have been too expensive. Mind you goodness knows how much a new Splash would have cost!

Europes offer spectacular VFM on the second hand market. You can get a boat for less than the cost of the carbon mast many times.

I'm pretty sure you can get a cut down Lightning sail. Does QBA stand for anything other than the rather obvious?
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Comet Mino would have been ideal, plus you can upsize the rig on lighter days.

Europes are still made, but not in this country to my knowledge, and are a massive class abroad.  Olympic selection then rejection didn't do them much good here.  Fantastic boat.
the same, but different...

thats such a shame Cry, because its a great well made little boat. have just sold my daughters( only because she got too tall and she wanted my lightning!!)

your friend should have got a second hand one or contacted the dutch manufacturer direct.

It does- you're involving presses (to squeeze the molds together) and you've got two molds- which have to be  a matched pair. It's pretty expensive even at small scale, for set up- though cheaper I'd think than similar sized autoclave equipment.
