Definatly don't want a smod I need some Freedom! plus i'd have to pay silly prices for everything. Just currently costing up to see what I could fit out a spanking new furball for if i bought a bare hull, price is looking promising, so far just need to work out the cost for a full Harken fit out and an allen one as a comparison.

At this size the RS200 , 500 or the 29er are all in the frame as well priced SMODs with some fleets and good level at nationals / regionals.

I can't imagine stuart's going to want a SMOD.

If so, great!

He says in the initial post that there are 20+ Fireballs at his local club, by modern standars I'd call that a fleet.

Knee pads encourage kneeling! One of the biggest things I learnt in the 29er was not to go on my knees (as a helm) because it's not good for balance or steering!

Otherwise for the size and maybe to be a bit rude, muscle from the other half, there are still plenty of boats. Always best to sail OD if you can!

I have owned 3 cherubs and sold my latest one in november. Just fancied a change for 2 reasons really the first one being i'm now working as a sailmaker and not a boat builder so dont have anywhere to work on the boat as i live in a small terraced house and the second being that I quite like to have a boat i can club sail, but cannot currently afford 2 boats. I'm still the cherub class events secretary and intend to crew/helm for various cherub sailors this year.

Because he wants a boat to sail - rather than one to tinker with?

I think Stu just wants a Fireball more than a Merlin!
