You can enter the Freezer on the day - most do (to the consternation of the organizers!).

You need to do so and sign on by 09:30 this year, though (it's all to do with tide times)

The hoo freezer practice race was good today. Weather is going to be good
tomorrow for the main day and the roads are going to be clear so everyone
get down there for some good racing!! Unless you're too scared to race
against me in a 29er....???

Well the deal always was that I got a new one, and the one I had was a bit of
a hastily thrown together for the dinghy show 1st boat out of the mould, so
it's gone back for inspection and repair, and I shall probably end up with a
new one as originally planned (Only red if I get my way and if I get my
double way it'll have a red baby kick ass brother).

Ah yes, that one's etched in my mind too. One side of my face went numb on the sail out to the start area, and by the end I had to ask the crew not to go out on the wire - I was so cold it was all I could do to steer, let alone play the main

Nothing like that today!

I did the Hoo Freezer the year we arrived in snow, about 4 years or so ago.

First time I towed a boat a long distance, first open event, first time sailing in Kent. First sail (that year) for a few months

Well, what happened, I launched, got out of the marina, struggled, capsized, got it up, capsized again, got towed in.

Did I start - NO!!

There is no snow here, and even if there were we would have dealt with it

there's a hint of spring in the air

And I don't have a boat.
