I don't remember seeing anyone bounce as you described, tho it sounds fun... Wave sailing is getting better all the time with improvements in control systems - sailing in a chop isn't that bad. Edited by aardvark_issues |

The wand is flexible so it absorbs small changes in water height as it flexes before it transmits to the foil.... a really flexible wand will absorb quite serious chop at the expence of vauge feedback... a stiffer wand will give more precise feedback but as a result will react to each and every wave which im guessing isnt very comfortable. |

Thats the problem i think... the wand doesn't 'understand' waves therefore the foils will be all over the place. For example, the wand could be at the top of a wave fully up whilst your still coming down the previous wave already up foiling fully, couldn't you just leap out for the water? or is it there a clever weight calculation so things like this doesn't happen? |

if your foiling the wand hits a wave it kicks up I guess, but it was making them mine on Saturday.

But that would be right cos the want is following the water and doing "its job"
How does the wand know its waves? |

Sounds like foiling in waves is a good spectator sport then |

Foilers of that size don't sail well when its choppy anyway from what I have seen, at the Tiger the waves hit the back in mid air and it just pitched and the sailor bounced on the water about 5 metres away, then launched off wave, caught up with another went down the wave bow first again resulting in a spectacular flip
