1090/1100 seems right by my records, what there are of them but you know if we're talking about a 35 year old sail etc...

Back in the 70's it raced off the same handicap as an Enterprise (98). For some reason, the Enterprise handicap has remained one of the most stable PY wise of all dinghies, so it would be fair to race it off the same now, I'd have thought? (1116). If it has all the original kit, sail etc, it will struggle to sail to that, though, as it must be pretty worn.

Many thanks, first look at the boat last night and it all looked very original! (at first i thought it was a 300!) 1100 looks good, when i tried to compare it with all the other single handers i was going to guess about that. It's seems so heavy.

I recall it had the same PY as the OK (now 1110), which surprised me at the time - the Harrier has more length and all that beam. But maybe the weight explains it? My performance predictor suggests maybe 10 points lower, i.e. 1100. But haven't people been modifying them from the original spec. just lately? EDIT: Just seen Jim's post. If they're using Phantom rigs I'd suggest knocking off another 15 points, i.e. to 1085 - pretty close to the Laser... Edited by Medway Maniac |

I ought to have this somewhere: I had to look it up a few years ago. But same as a Laser is a good first approximation provided it has the original sail.
Some have been rerigged with Phantonm rigs. The original rig can be distinguished because its got a rather nasty untapered mast with no spraders, and if you lay a Solo sail on top of the mainsail it will be the sameuntil I think the top or second but top Solo batten, at which point the Harrier sail has less roach round because the luff is about a foot longer. If the boat has the original rudder blade he needs to swap it for a longer one! Edited by JimC |

Question… What is the handicap of this boat??? (My first thought was, what the hell is a Harrier!!) This is the only info I can find http://www.bluelightning.co.uk/Harrier/harrier1.htm One has just turned up at our club and I’ve tried to search the net for a PY number but no luck! The new owner thinks it’s around the same speed as a laser (which I’m doubting if it’s that heavy!)
