Have you tried loading your trolley on another road base, it might fit? My West Mersea and Trident-UK trailer bases are very similar. Many classes e.g. Laser and RS use the same west mersea road base, bound to be a few at your club.

Dragon Trailers was run by Will Moody in Leicester. The company stopped trading in about 1998. He was a successful GP14 sailor, regularly in the top 5 at Nationals and Worlds. He moved to South Africa in the 90s, then to Ireland where he sailed Fireballs very successfully, and then back to SA last year. If you want a roadbase for your trolley try Steve Ellison at TrailMaid 07931 824034 he does excellent one-offs at good prices. |

750 kgs unbraked is the max without a towing license.
You cannot go in the 3rd lane of the motorway with a trailer or face 3 points and a £60 fine. |

on a normal licence you can tow up to 750kg and there are width and length restrictions. Its only an issue if you have to tow sportboats or ribs with boats ontop etc... |

I started to fill in all the forms to get my towing llicence after I passed my driving test but was told by the examiner that I wouldnt have any issue as long as the trailor is below a certain length and under a certain weight (350kg maby? That rings a bell but no garentuees) Either way the outcome was that I was told I wouldnt have any problem towing your average dinghy on a normal post 97 license. Edit for Les: I have no usefull information on the wherabouts or indeed existance of aforementioned dragon trailors. Sorry. ![]() Edited by Isis |

At the weekend I found out that anybody who passed their driving after 1997 will have to take and extra test if they want to tow. I was also surprised to find that the speed limit on a motorway for cars with trailers is 60mph (not 70). Also if you park at the road side with a trailer at night your vehicle should be lit, as should all vehilcles in excess if 1500kg - which includes most 4x4s.
