Help Needed

Not sure if the 2000 was entirely at fault. At best it would have been a 50/50 situation - knock for knock in motoring terms.

I did not see the incident but I was in the area taking photos and it was a very tight launching area. It may have been possible for one boat to launch going on port and the other on starboard and sail into each other.

I suggest that both helms made the decision to go at roughly the same time anticipating that the other was not ready.

What choice did the 2000 have? Hit you or crash tack and hit the pontoon to his left? At some stage your starboard rights disappear and the 2000 has rights for water.

I know you were experiencing difficulty in launching the 14 in the area concerned and could be considered as causing an obstruction. Other people were to keen to get out to the race area so were not willing to wait for you to clear the area.

So I think it is not as clear cut as being made out and you should accept that the 2000 was limited in their options.

I wouldn't think you'd be wanting to repair that, would you? Was the 2k in the wrong ? (or were you?)
