I suggest that both helms made the decision to go at roughly the same time anticipating that the other was not ready.

What choice did the 2000 have? Hit you or crash tack and hit the pontoon to his left? At some stage your starboard rights disappear and the 2000 has rights for water.

I know you were experiencing difficulty in launching the 14 in the area concerned and could be considered as causing an obstruction. Other people were to keen to get out to the race area so were not willing to wait for you to clear the area.

So I think it is not as clear cut as being made out and you should accept that the 2000 was limited in their options.

Maybe he was, but he made no attempt to do anything and tbh mark he doesnt have a sodding great hole in the side of his boat . I ca understand you trying to be unbyas but the fact remains he hit me when i was on starboard and i have a hole in my boat. Anyway il let my dad deal with it as hes better at dealing with things like this

Yes that was a tough launch.  Strong wind, lee shore and jetty in the way on one tack and a projecting shoreline in the way on the other tack.  Sorry to hear you had damage, we capsized when we hit the bottom but managed to get away on starboard from the projecting shore.  I would have thought the 2000 would have offered to pay and if you were on starboard he must have been on port - so he is clearly in the wrong.  There were to many boats all trying to launch at the same time.

Definitely an insurance job then, make them pay mate! If you are with Noble they will do most of the leg work for you too.

I am assuming you were not in a start sequence when this occured? If you were you should have protested him....

Tbh...i'd be more bothered about him paying the cost of repairing the boat rather then the launching fees!!!

Agreed - If he hit you while you were launching, and you didn't get to sail, I think he should at least pay your launching fees!
