there are 5 solutions at my club

with the one of the youngest proper sailors sailing one  ( 15) and the oldest sailor in his late 60's.

Also the nationals being held at our club this year. They all seem to love their solutions.

Matt

Note to self...do NOT attack a Phantom that has a carbon mast....

Having said that just touch some on the Phantom hulls and they fall apart (unlike the Solution which can take a beating and survive....sorry Andy).

Indeed they do break but its the splinter effect they have when they break that makes them a good weapon!

8 seconds on corrected wasn't it mate.......but again it was superb 2k conditions and a good assy course!

Although I did think your tactic of trying to beat my poor helm senseless with your mast tip was a bit underhand.

New High Wind Settings

Simon and I, at Hunts have now gone all out for rake. After chatting to a couple of the Phantom guys, we have raked back to the bottom front hole on the shroud plate. This still allows the rig to come up enough on a reach so there is little detriment to down wind speed.

Upwind i have been been letting off the forestay so the marker crimp is just coming through the sheeve of the pulley, (I lost the plastic ball ages ago.) Then with as much kicker and cunno as i could pull, the boat was suddenly footing much better, without the crabbing feeling that I had at the Grafham Grand Prix, even with the plate all the way down. I have also tightened the lowers one hole from the defalt settings to control lateral bend, and prevent too much low down fore and aft bend, with the raked settings, they seemed quite loose at times, so may even go for another half hole. The mast tip was now  over the board, or slightly aft of it, which looks a better shape for the whole rig.

Suddenly she was a joy to sail upwind, and I wasnt losing on Jeffers in the 2000, and sometimes felt faster than them upwind.

All I need to do now is stop falling out the boat when it accelerates down wind. Never had that problem in the 18!! maybe it was the trapeze.

Hope this helps any other Solutions, have not touched the spreaders yet, and seem pretty competative with a merlin with the current Comet champ in it.

Cheers Andy
