Seems the conference was considered a success despite only 6 classes showing up...

No it was kevin Turner from Canvey. Now he has a big 2 wheel  trailer with a cat that sits on a frame on top and a rib underneath. it's then pulled by a 30ft Winniebago.

Thanks to all for pics, esp all Hurri sailors. We may have to give a prize to the most original means of getting your boat to Ballyholme next summer for the Euros . Was it Will Sunnucks who pulled two hulls from the front window of his caravan when it arrived last time? Personally I'd like to see a H59 brought up from Essex on a roof rack! On a Smart car!

Sorry for hijacking thread - I think Phil started it.

The RYA Conference is for clubs and classes, the RYA reviewing the year and presenting plans for 2007. An ideal opportunity for classes and clubs to comment and influence policy.

By some measures sailing is in a very healthy shape with great successes at Olympic and Elite levels, championship and junior numbers up. But there are future dark clouds looming on the horizon, with concerns over the sport's grassroots, many clubs seeing a fall in particapation, struggling to get boats out of the dinghy park and out sailing. Already noted a massive fallout in sailors post youth level.

The RYA Racing Conference is a great forum to share ideas and good practices, with an ideal opportunity for all those involved in running our sport to co-operate in its best interests, so why were so few classes and for that matter clubs present ?

The following had formal representation ;

Cherub
FD
GP14
Merlin
Mirror
Scorpion

All had some excellent initiatives in their respective classes that are raising numbers.

Just for you Phil, 15 Hurricanes!

English Dave, the idea of the trailer for three 5.9's was to carry them broken down somehow, never got further than an idea...turned out cheaper and easier to go in the lorry in the end and fly out to Greece!
