I think Topper have done a lot of classes a favour by pulling out of GRP boat manufacture (to Rondars benefit it appears).
The Blaze is continuing it's good growth with the appointment of a new builder with the first batch of boats in production (and I believe most of them sold). Hopefully the Buzz can do the same, I really must get round to de-Toppering my boat ASAP.... Paul |

That's excellent news! Will rondar be making exact replicas or is this a chance for a bit of development? Laser's dumping of the 3000 has done the boat the world of good. The new sails and sail plan, various control mods and the Vandercraft built hulls have certainly improved the boat and (suprisingly) reduced the cost of ownership - so hopefully the same will happen to the Buzz. But now topper have orphaned you as laser orphaned us .... maybe we should have some joint events! Off thread, sorry, going back: The above ought to make the Buzz even more attractive - cheaper sails, class association design control etc etc. Probably a cheaper new boat too. The RS500 seems unlikely to be a good single hander; too powerful and the hull is a bit too "deck and footwell" for easy climbing in and out - and you can only get them new. The 29er is also over-powerful for one and wobbly too (though Blobby on this site single hands his ...mind you there's another bloke single handing a Flying Dutchman ...... IMHO the best two double / single handable mono-hulls are the Buzz and the 3000 (Laser or Vandercraft - pay more money go a little faster) - try both; (all three) buy what you like best (and can afford). |

There's a whole thread on the forum somewhere called "single handed buzz project". Chap called doug had done some sensible and class legal mods to make it easier, seemed pretty good. Seems a good idea for folk who sometimes have a crew but often don't (like ME today). What's this I hear about the Buzz getting a new builder now Topper are getting out of GRP boats? Any truth? Any Buzzes thinking of doing the Grafham Grand Prix? (Single handed or otherwise?)

We had someone who used to regularly singlehand the Buzz, from the wire with Spinnaker. Took him a short while to get used to it all, and after that he had a great time. He now sails an Iso, which I've not seen him single hand, but I expect he has.
