You could try sailing from ainsdale, near Southport- where West Lancs Yc sail occasionaly. the sailing waters are as good as any- just there are hardly any good launching spots. To get decent sea sailing in the north west you have to go to Wales! Pwllheli is only 2.5 hours from Manchester, Conwy 2h, or anywhere on the Dee. |

you could try Blackpool Light Craft Club, near South Shore, mainly cats, but you'd have safety cover. I can put you in touch with a member if you PM me further north, there's morcolme SC, which is more active, but watch out for yellow floating things, they may not be buoys is there anywhere around kirby point that people sail from? maybe it's a bit close to shipping lanes? i'll admit it's definitely not the most attractive coastline, what about the larger lakes? |

Hi Mate, I sail my B14 at West Kirby, in light winds on the
marine lake but when the tide is right we go out on the Dee, you get
about 1+half hours either side of high tide.
Theres a good slipway and theres usually rescue boats out when the tide is high. Send me a PM or something if you want to go for a sail, I'll come down and get the B14 out. Go here http://cobs.pol.ac.uk/fastlinks/?, check the "Hilbre Weather Station" for wind and direction, and "Hilbre Tidal Predictions" for tide times. |

I'm getting a bit sick of soaking around my local pond in my high performance boat he he.Its ok racing but just wondered if there are any places along the north west coast that anyone would recommend for just turning up and going for a blast obviously safety and launching/recovering are gonna be considerations but as long as the forecast isn't stupid I should be able to cope was thinking about turning up at blackpool beach with the five oh and just going out for a blast any ideas?
