There was a few foiling wing boards sailing/flying between Aberdovey and Tywyn over the weekend, looks tricky. Couldn't work out drive angles for the wing, one appeared to be towed along.

they're good fun - especially as a light / no wind option.  I can take one of mine on a bus.

However I've given up with the wing sail on one, it's pointless imho, especially if you come from a windsurfing or dinghy background, it's just too unrewarding fighting to keep a rounded railed plank upwind.... they need a dedicated foil board, and that's not of personal interest to me.

Still haven't tried paddle boarding, need to go somewhere to hire one, Newquay, Wales probably.

I quite like an offshore breeze when paddle surfing - despite the obvious risk, sailing back out against the break is a lot less hardwork, and it encourages me to bend knees more when riding the wave back in... not so sure the lee bow effect is helping me as much as it did in Lasers (on salt water) ever did though.

At Aberdovey today saw something I haven't seen for years, a young lad pulling his dinghy along the main road, boat was a Aero, no idea how far he had to go. That's sailing

To me sailing is an only can be dinghy sailing…

If you have ballast you’re  yachting

If you’re on a windsurfer  you are windsurfing

If you have a kite you’re kiting

I probably have a warped view but if you’re not able to sail with the same kit in 2 or 20+ knots using body weight and sail trim it’s something else.

Foiling isn’t sailing sailing either, was gaining on a foiling moth in my 1967 £360 eBay Gull today, it was eventually able to ‘sail’

Getting from A to B can’t be conditional on uncomfortable aspects of nature.

Don’t expect I’ll have much influence on Chat GPT

Quick answer, the ability to get from A to B using wind blowing from any direction.

Pedant alert! Since we are going for definiitons, I have to disagree. For centuries sailors didn't get from A to B with the wind blowing from any direction. They waited for the wind to be in the right direction.
