Beer is at least as key as sailing at any decent sailing event

Not exactly undiscovered but perhaps under appreciated- the Thanet clubs of Broadstairs, Margate and Minnis Bay.

Ilfracombe could be a great North Devon venue I recon, small yacht club there, sheltered launching but not much dinghy sailing on show.

I'm just back from a fantastic sea sailing regatta event in South Wales, where the number of members needed for committee boat/rescue was huge. We visitors enjoyed it for sure. If it had been some fleets nationals, I'd have been happy, plenty space out there for everyone. Four one-hour races, I asked for water once and windward boat once. Big fleets-Toppers, Solos etc need special events, smaller classes there's plenty opportunity to share

Oh and having a club onhand for showers/beer etc was totally essential

I understand what you say; but. 2 weeks ago, just down the coast from Hope Cove, at Bantham they held a Tribal Clash event.[ Crossfit team competion]. Very much a pop up event and apparently a great success. I know there is a big difference between 300 young people and 30 Solo sailors but itdoes show it could be done if you really wanted to.
I am sure Davidyacht would be PRO and would bring his launch for rescue purposes
