Even then if they don’t recognise the home state of the sailor, organisers can make life difficult for some competitors... Israeli sailors in Malaysia springs to mind.

No but they have removed the requirement for Bruce Kirbys name to appear on the plaques. Interesting to see JimCs thread on the Sunfish, seems LP are doing the same with that as they did with the Laser.
