Hi!

Don't laugh, but we now have a shinny new website at http://www.aclasscatamaran.co.uk !

You'll know the 'A' Cats - we are the ones who you usually leave you all for dead when going uphill! Wink

Thanks!

And what's a webmiester?

And how is that yellow Delta 95 that I made a few years ago going?

it isn't exactly very "2010" looking- rather more "2000". And the text on the "coming soon" box in blue on the black hatched background is nigh on unreadable. You've got a hi-tech boat, but hardly a hi-tech site to sell it...

That is my very favourite boat of all time ever.  I was in awe of that when I was a nipper! (but wasn't it nearer 1985 than '95?)

Well, I like it! I was mainly looking at the pictures, though (great!) and the 2nd hand prices (scary!), so I didn't proof read it...

I don't mean to stick the boot in and I'm not going to criticise the website layout, but the claim that the A is "arguably the world's fastest small sailing boat upwind" is a very big one to make!

A little while back I did quite a bit of racing against or on the same course with the world's top A Class sailors, and they never seemed to be faster all-round than the good Tornadoes. That's borne out by the yardstick differential of 6%, which certainly isn't all due to the T's downwind ability.

Of course, that doesn't mean that the A isn't one of the most stunning boats afloat!

Oh, looks better now- was it just not uploaded properly when you first posted? The site I criticised said it had been made using FrontPage 4.0 (2000- released in 1999).

Ah well Chris, maybe they're defining the Tornado as a big boat. They certainly look ********* monstrous to me:-) The A isn't a lot shorter, but they certainly look a lot smaller to these eyes. The beam I suppose. Anyway I hope few would argue against the A being one of the great Classes:-)

Andy - let he/she who has never posted a page full of typos because they're getting nagged to get that new web site finished cast the first virtual stone...

The Mk I version really just got the info out, then I pushed a few buttons and it all went a bit groovier!  Got to do a couple of slight tweaks now, but that's basically there.  I tend to use Frontpage cos it was free!

Just got to keep it regularly updated now with new photos and more contentious statements Wink

Thanks for the input!

Just been reading about the start of the A class again in the Reg White and Bob Fisher Catamaran racing book from the late 60's. Is it right that the class is almost 50? Sounds like a good excuse for a party!

Apart from Unicorns, are there any other classic A class around, like the A-Lion or Australis?
