Well, that was quite entertaining, although not enough yotting for the sailing viewer. It will be interesting to see their take on the Laser Worlds next month.

...and what about the Team GB falconer? That really is going the extra mile! Makes for a whole new slew of excuses though..."the falconer flew the wrong bird so I didn't get enough sleep!"

Will all the parents of Junior and Youth Squaddies be investing is similar avian resources to ensure little Josh or Hannah get a good night's sleep? Imagine a portable mews on top of the double RIB/Oppie trailer.

hi, well i watched the program, and for my money there was
to much talking and far to little on the water action,
total rubbish from start to end.

I agree that there was a little to much talking but you have to remember that some of the people watching it have no knowledge of the sport and the history of the people sailing that they showed.

It was very very poor, i do understand your statement put
you will not understand anything of the sport from the
questions being asked, ie how do you feel, are you going to
win??
the female who ever she was, was just far to full of
herself to allow any film of the racing, or any details of
the dinghies etc.it was just a total turn off.

What you mean Shirley? With the two Gold Medals?

I enjoyed it. It was good to see some of the behind the
scenes stuff. I expect the Weymouth Tourist Board thought
it was great!

Actually I'm not a fan of shirley as a presenter, the way she talks and
animates herself is really quite annoying. The woman who presented the sail
for gold daily vids (Helen Grundy I think) is far far better for the task.

I'm not surprised that it was 80% interviews, as I suspect that watching the sailing would have been like watching paint dry for non-yachty folk (as most sailors too I reckon).

This is the big problem with the Olympic end of the sport. It's all geeky and technical.

Now if the classes were:-

  • Foiling Moth
  • International Canoe
  • Musto Skiff
  • 12ft Skiff
  • I14
  • B14
  • 18ft Skiff
  • etc.

Then you'd have something worth filming and watching.

12ft Skiff - Gordon Keeble and the Furry Fly-by
AC - GBR271 - Whoosh
B49 - Island Alchemy

I agree completely!!! But it is quite fun to watch the 49ers fall over when the wind picks up... example Beijing 2008 on the last day.
Its alright to dream

LASER - 102739
RS 300 - 483
BLAZE - 737
NATIONAL 12 - 3436
29ER - 716

I understand why they did mainly sailor interviews, the general public love a
face, they don't care about the sport. Think about football, more was written
about John Terry's affair than was ever written about how he plays football.
People love a public profile no matter what the sport is, so if you want public
interest you have to get them interested in the sailors and THEN they might
take interest in watching the sport.
