Hi guys! Some of the veterans of this site may remember me as Radial197102 but I have since lost my password :/

Just a quick question really, I have applied for a job at Minorca Sailing, teaching... yes you guessed it... sailing :)

I was just wondering if you guys had any experiences there? What is it like? It is a little daunting for a 20 year old girl to go out there on her own so I'm trying to get as much info as possible!

Thanks,
Kahla

have a look at their website...give you a feel for the place.

relax and enjoy it - I'm sure you'll have a great tima nd they'll be lots of others in the same boat as you..

Check to see whether taking a bike is recommended - the centre and the instructors accommodation are a spread out a bit along the bay..

Relax, you'll be fine. Haven't done it myself but have several friends who
have. They all loved it and and immediately got on great with everyone else
that worked there.

Been holiday there, and had friends that worked there- my impression is that is one of the few warm-weather sailing schools where staff actually get to sail during work, rather than herding sailors from power boats- but don't expect to sailing all day everyday. People pay good money to do that for their holiday, you're there to serve them.

Ratface (James) has worked for Rockley Watersports so may give his advice later.

I have worked in Switzerland at the age of 18 for a couple of months, the first thing that hit me was home sickness, that lasted a couple of days but after i got over it, I really enjoyed my time.

Do socialise with others, don't stay on your own for too long, and do plan your food budget so you dont overspend.

I will be fine with homesickness, I have been at University for a year now and got over that feeling long ago!! I also have a friend coming out there with me but he will be working in bars etc as he is a non-sailor (Yes I AM going to teach him how to sail on my days off)
