As I was driving to work this morning, I passed a dear's head on the road. About 6 miles later, I passed the body. What could do that? A lion?

Is there a punchline coming or was this a real observation?

I reckon it was a lorry. The deer had squatted down to try and duck under the lorry, head had been removed by the grill... later down the road the lorry braked and the head became detached and fell into the road.

... obviously!

I hope you mean a deer rather than some poor old dear! If the latter then it's probably best to contact your local CSI!

Whereabouts do you live to come across such road carnage?

Oops, yes, a deer!  No punchline, sorry. It was real. I'm a long way from port lympne - the beautiful Chew Valley in Somerset.  Badgers are a weekly find, but deer are more unusual.

Peaky,

There's a panther in our neck of the woods too (I live in Cheddar) - I've seen it on the road between Banwell and Winscombe.

The deer was not one of my hits either. I've hit 2 in the last couple of years (and several near misses) and they don't half do a lot of damage to the car (though obviously not half as much damage as the car does to the deer...). They used to call me the Deer Hunter at work!
