I think I have solved it now (Think!! It might change  )

Stick with 49er, try and make it work, if it really doesn't then I will think about changing to something else.

After thinking about it, I honestly think a 12 is too much for me, bloody impossible to sail and I really don't think I am up to it!!

As for the 18, I don't see it happening now. I think it is too early to do that, and I would rather continue with something else, get better and then do something a bit better than mainsheet trim!! So that one is gone out window now and I have told him that.

Musto I will still get for days where I don't have a crew.

Think this is reasonable, and not biting off more than I can chew, because I hate to say it but you lot were right.

PS Thought i might as well make a topic so no more topics get Hijacked, and open to suggestions but please no more abuse

Sounds like a good plan Chris. In my experiance its a lot easier to improve your sailing when you concentrate on one class, not two or three at the same time. If you have crew trouble why not sell the 49er and just sail musto's, they're a popular class, and from the people who i've met also quite friendly, the sailing standard is very high too, so it would be the perfect opertunity to hone your racing and wiring from the helm skills, then if you find a reliable crew you can always swap to the 49ers.

Haha

Mmm if the 49er doesn't work out I think I will do that, just stick to the Musto and maybe pick up the 49er again later, when its a bit easier (left school and I can move wherever, most people who want to crew 49ers seem to be on the south coast!)

But if I decided I didn't want to sail a single handed boat then I would probably go for a cherub

Chris didn't ask for a new class to sail he already enjoys sailing a 49er when he has a crew and has stated that he would like a musto for when he doesn't have a crew.

As he doesn't have a regular crew I suggested that he should prahaps try sailing only a musto for a while, for the reasons i stated above.

What use would a 14 be to him if he doesn't have a crew? and is already happy with a 49er???

Now try and keep this thread on topic for once

No competition tbh. And i was merely suggesting a boat for him to consider not to buy. We're not all forced to sail cherubs
