Wow, some classes are doing pretty well! The entry for the 2008 Laser
Masters worlds, to be sailed in late February,
opened on August 28. The limit is 320 entries. Entries were to close on
14
December.

So much for theory. The event is now full and a waiting list (already
including a world champ and runner up I think) has started - four months
before the entries were due to close. Is it a record time for such a huge
fleet to enter?

I was alerted to the "problem" yesterday and had to make a frantic call to
a sleepy girlfriend in Italy to get her credit card details before squeaking
in at entry number 313 a few hours ahead of the close. Unfortunately,
my calls to alert other people didn't get through.

So how damn fine is that - more proof that the simple, cheap multi-role
boats are doing very well indeed, thank you very much.

ohh well, there is a masters event at rutland, i got confused, i hadnt slept for 30hrs.

With luck there will be a congress for orthopaedic surgeons going on at the same time nearby. Can you imagine being deafened by 350 sets of creaking knees, ankles and other joints....
