Fair point, musn't forget the crews (though bribing with ice-cream is usually the best go faster technique...)

That seems to be a RYA recognised technique then. Contender443 applies it regularly to his crew on the RS200. Might help that the crew is our 11-year-old daughter. Perhaps a World Champ crew would need a little more incentive... (shiny trophy at the end of the event, maybe)
