So, what did everyone think of the event?

The spectating from the bridge was excellent. Cheering at the
Tasar as it went over was amusing. Thought the Solution looked
like bloody hard work upwind (was it you that Chinese-gybed and got wet
at the bottom of the course?). 12ft Skiff kite was huge, pity
they retired but probably a good idea! Pity the wind was heavily
biased for "dead downwind" boats rather than skiffs, but fair play the
Fireball was extremely well sailed (despite a severe wineglass on the
last set!).

The Solution was hard work upwind, not as bad as some others - did you see the Musto Skiff!
That wasn't me capsizing, it was a friend of mine who fell in - not a happy chap.
12' skiff made the right decision, the gusts coming between the buildings were not good.

I saw the Musto colliding with a B14... they locked wings but the Musto managed to go in.

Didn't see this racing but did see the 49er's and 29er's sailing on the Saturday. The wind came down the river, ended up been gusty between the buildings.
It was gusty enough to throw one of the 49er's into the water, I bet they thought they were hidden from all the yachts etc. |

Does anyone know who was sailing the Fireball? It looks like it might be Matt Mee and Waggers from the picture but I don't know what they look like well enough to be sure?! I saw the 9ers on saturday and they were getting blon over left right and centre in the monster gusts that where coming around the buildings! Watched the VX40 rig and got bored of waiting so I went inside! Now I remeber why dinghies are better! |

No sign of a Tornado. I watched the whole race and the only cats were the A-Class (beautiful) and a Hurricane 5.9. |

It was suprisingly good fun, good racing in difficult conditions. Why is it a shame that it did not favour skiffs? If the wind was any different we would have just reached up and down, how much fun would that be? atleast we had two long (ish) beats. Matt and Richard sailed very well and deserved the win particualy sailing with only one trapeze wire for the last round. Still have not seen the final results I believe that some of the lapped boats were counted finished a lap down. I don't envy any race officer particually with that many boats in a small space. |
