Hi,

Ive spoken to some people and the 29ers too fast for the lake! So now im looking at the buzz. Is the buzz any good? Its very wide so does that mean its hard to capsize? Its PY is quite low, well lower that a 420 so that should be quite good right?

yeah, the buzz is good fun. bit biased opinion though. Generally though it is good solid boat which you can pick up a decent boat for somewhere around 2-3k. There is quite a decent circuit, not as big as some of the RS classes, but numbers at opens are on the up again. If you want more info have a look at www.bu22.co.uk .

if you want a 29er with half the fun and kicks then yeah.....

i don't think a 29ers too fast for a lake!   unless you're lake's something like papercourt!
Have a look at the other boats on your lake and see how fast they go, any mussys/700s there? vortexes? rs800s?  I think you'll find a 9er fine on a lake...

You need to use the search facility on this site, there are loads of threads on the Buzz, and variants: all the info is already there, you just gotta find it!

Have fun, it's what the site is about

BTW, there is one thread entitled " am I the only one?" from a guy who keeps looking at exciting boats, then has to downgrade his expectations....

Buzz is certainly a fun boat!  Its good cos its just so easy to sail, certainly a big wind boat when most others are looking sheepish!

Yea a buzz is a good boat although i am biased as i own one, they are cheap, great in a blow and reasonably easy to upright, great people on the circuit, where abouts are you based as there is probaly someone nearby to get a test sail.

The Buzz is a good boat, great for everyone to get into Asymmetrics

(think the 29er's better)

Some of the best sailing I've done was in the Buzz. Campaigned one quite hard for 3 seasons, with Bridget Kitchemen. When they were a new class ( 30 to 40 something at the Nats ). Always seemed to blow old boots when we raced the Buzz circuit. You could send it hard in big sea and wind, although we did manage to break a mast ( as quite a few did / do? ) and send the space frame to windward, which the hull didn't like much. A well mannered boat, easy to sail, and a lot of fun ( and you have roller reefing on the jib for a bit of RYA seamanship ). Early boats have a different deck layout which isn't very pleasant ( jib cleats on the floor ) and the sails were updated ( although I doubt if any early suits are still going ). Sounds like you are a bit nervous of the 29er ( which I have also owned ). So it would be a good choice to start with.
