Aqua Speed creates the ultimate finish which significantly reduces friction between water and hull. One application will last for a complete series of races and is ideal for use on boats, surfboards, water skis and kite boards.

If its falling off within a few races as that implies isn't in breach of rule 53?

53 SKIN FRICTION
A boat shall not eject or release a substance, such as a polymer, or have specially textured surfaces that could improve the character of the flow of water inside the boundary layer.

It also sounds as if its polluting the water to me...

How does that break 53?

It's not ejecting or releasing just coated ...

Agree on your second point.

Didn't this come from Americas Cup boats?

Its the bit about it having to be replaced every few races which makes me wonder about the "ejecting or releasing" words in the rule. A polished surface doesn't need work until you scuff it up. I have a vision of people aerosol spraying their boat every morning of the champs with this stuff, and I don't like that vision much...

[QUOTE=JimC]. A polished surface doesn't need work until you scuff it up. QUOTE]

Not so - look what happens to the paint on your car over the course of a couple of months, the water stops beading on it when you wash it. It's not been 'scuffed' as such and the same will happen to your hull. I suspect it's little more than a polish.

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

If you spray something on which only lasts for a race or two then surely it's being released?  But then you could apply the same argument to soft anti-fouling...  Whatever, it's an awful thought that everyone would have to spray stuff onto the bottom of their boat every few races to be competitive. Let's hope it's a snake oil!

I suspect it is a wax. Holmenkol is primarily a ski-wax company. Rooster is just the retailer.

A reduction in friction of 40% is a pretty bold claim ... if that is true we'll all be buying it...
