Star's race 3 goes to Atlanta Gold Medallists

Things had started well for American's Reynolds and Liljedahl and Australia's Beashel and Giles in race 3.
The US and Aussies got out of the start in front of the 16-nation Star fleet and were the first boats to round the first windward mark along with Germans Pickel and Auracher.
UUSA and Australia managed to sail in clear air in the following run and rounded mark 2 in the leading group but lost it in the second beat when the wind favoured the right hand-side of the course.
That's how Brazil's Grael and Ferreira came back from 6th to 2nd place at mark. But it the run the Atlanta Gold medallists managed to take over the German and therefore lead the fleet.
Once they were in the front they played with the breeze taking advantage of variations and shifts and held their lead to the finish.
Grael's rival US Reynolds kept dropping back in the fleet and finished in 11th when the Australians managed to come 6th.
Spain's duo van der Ploeg and Trujillo, the most consistent so far , are leading the Brazilians overall.

The Ventis outnumbered the other classes on this occasion Another fantastic morning of racing at Lincoln, you really could not have had a better day, with sunshine and a decent top suit breeze from the South West, it did veer slightly during the morning when a dog leg was added to the course.

Pivot on this
I despise the way ‘pivot' got used as many times as those wretched QR codes... Yes indeed. As much as I would hate to take people back to the COVID era, that's exactly what I've just done. Making that problematic trip back in time look good, is how much I despise the way ‘pivot' got used as many times as those wretched QR codes.
