A complete reversal of form took place in heat 2 of the Star Class when New-Zealand won after coming last in the first race. Brazil came13th when 3rd in former race. USA comes back

A complete reversal of form took place in race 2 of oldest Olympic sailing Class Star.
New Zealand's Match Racer Gavin Brady and his Jamie Gale won heat 2 after coming last in heat 1.
The Kiwis corssed the finish line only 4 seconds ahead of the Italians and 8 seconds ahead the Americans in what was a very close finish.
Atlanta Gold Medallists, Brazil's Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira crossed the finish line of this second race in 13th position when they had been 3rd in the first one.
It's the other way round for serious Gold Medal contenders, US Mark Reynolds and Magnus Liljedahl who came 3rd in heat 2 after being third last in the first one.
Race 1 winner, Great Britain's Ian Walker and his Mark Covell had an average result in the second race when he crossed the line in 9th.
The latter is second overall in the point's table behind Spain's pair, Van der Ploeg and Trujillo who had two good races finishing in 22nd and 4th. .
These fluctuating results show how competitive is the class and how open is the medal competition.
It also shows that the southwesterly breeze is again very fickle today out on the offshore course E in the Tasmanian Sea.
Spain's pair, Van der Ploeg and Trujillo are the overall leader after two good results.
Current world top ranked, Australia's Colin Beashel and crew David Giles were consistent with average results as they finished twice middle fleet in 8th position.
