Robbo's Sydney 60 Eureka adds another trophy to the mantlepiece

by Ian Grant on 21 Feb 2001
Eureka Rachel Nahum
Bob Robertson's Caloundra built Sydney 60 Eureka claimed an important IMS class handicap win in the 45-n/ml Wollongong-Sydney race last weekend.

Eureka jointly skippered by Robertson and America's Cup winning tactician Hugh Treharne completed the course with a comfortable corrected time win in a fleet that included Brindabella, Vanguard and the 1998 Telstra Sydney-Hobart winner AFR Midnight Rambler.

Naturally the ecstatic Robertson had plenty to say about his first handicap win with Eureka which also took line honours in her maiden race from Sydney to Lord Howe Island late last year.

'We are learning more about the yacht in every race and it was pleasing to answer a few 'knockers' with a win.' Robertson said.

Eureka which is raced by a composite crew of highly experienced offshore racing yachtsmen and 'blue water rookies' who pay their way to learn more about the demanding sport of ocean racing has been nominated for the Forrester Properties Sydney Mooloolaba race and the Brisbane-Gladstone classic.

'She has also been nominated for the Hog's Breath Mooloolaba to Airlie Beach race where we hope to challenge the record before going on to contest the Australian IMS and IRC championships as part of the Hahn Premium Race Week at Hamilton Island'.

'It's a full book all planned around being in good shape to tackle the 2001 Telstra Sydney-Hobart next December'. Robertson said.
