Wild Bull retains Australian Super 30 Championship
by Ron Farley on 27 Jan 2001
After 5 days of racing, Regatta 2001, the Australian Super 30 Championship
and NSW JOG Championship, concluded at Port Stephens (on the central NSW
coast) yesterday.
After winning the opening Pittwater to Port Stephens passage race, Wild Bull
(Rod Skellet) sailed consistently (until the final race never finishing
below fourth), to retain its title as Australian Super 30 Champion.
In the NSW JOG Championship, Young Lion (Zac Stollznow) won the regatta
having never finished outside 3rd place. Like Wild Bull, Young Lion also won
the passage race and followed this with two further wins in races 5 & 6. It
was never a sure thing though, with Tow Truck (Anthony Paterson) being in
with a chance right till the last race.
