Mumm 30 Division Super 30 nationals Day 3

by Stewart Lewis on 26 Jan 2001
Thanks for putting yesterday articles on your site, heres todays report.

25th January 2001

A 15nm race from the Peppers Anchorage resort at Port Stephens out around three islands just out to sea off Port Stephens was
held in a perfect 20kt NE breeze.

After two general recalls, the start of race 4 finally got underway. The Mumm 30s had a great race out of Port Stephens,
with Mumms the Word leading most of the way out of the heads with second place being shared at various times between
Addiction, On the Edge and Enigma. Mumms the word ended up first around Cabbage tree island, followed closely by
On The Edge, Addiction, Enigma with Art of War a little further back after choosing the wrong option going out the heads.

The spinnaker run back to the finish off the anchorage resort saw all boats exceeding 13 knots of boat speed in the perfect
surfing conditions. Chris Tillet in On The Edge quickly overhauled Mumms the Word on the run home, leaving Addiction,
Mumms the Word and Enigma to have a close battle home for second place, with all three finishing within two boat lengths
after 15 miles with Addiction getting a well deserved second place, Mumms the Word third, Enigma fourth then Art of
War a little further back in fifth.

Friday is should see more perfect conditions for the final day of racing with the all important three windward leeward races
held off the Peppers Anchorage resort.
