BARLO PLASTICS TO TAKE TITLE SPONSORSHIP OF BRITISH ADMIRAL'S CUP TEAM 2001

by on 7 Dec 2000
Barlo Plastics, Europe's leading independent producer of transparent plastic
sheets and part of the Barlo Group plc, is delighted to have negotiated with
the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to become title sponsor of the British
Team for the 2001 Admiral's Cup, regarded as the world championship of
offshore racing. The team will be known as the Barlo Plastics British
Admiral's Cup Team 2001.

In addition, Barlo Plastics have agreed to sponsor Robert Condon's IC 45
'Indulgence', which will be renamed Barlo Plastics and skippered by Adrian
Stead, with Olympic Gold Medallist Ben Ainslie helming. Barlo Plastics will
also be the title sponsor of the Admiral's Cup selection trials for the Farr
40 class.

This sponsorship is a continuation of the extremely successful alliance
Barlo Plastics have had with British yachting and in particular Adrian
Stead. In the 1999 Champagne Mumm Admiral's Cup, Stead's Barlo Plastics
Mumm 36 took the top boat overall honours and this summer Adrian Stead and
his crew put an impressive campaign together to win the Tour Voile 2000 in
the Barlo Plastics sponsored Mumm 30, the first British team to win in the
history of the event.

The Admiral's Cup is a bi-annual, international regatta for three-yacht
teams and the event will be held between Monday 16th July and Saturday 28th
July 2001 at Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The organising authority is the
Royal Ocean Racing Club, in association with the Royal Yacht Squadron. The
Admiral's Cup is a truly international event with past teams entering from
across Europe and as far afield as Australia, Argentina, Hong Kong and
America. Each team must include one boat from three specified classes
namely, the IC 45 'big boat', the Sydney 40 and the Farr 40 class.

Commenting on their involvement with the British Admiral's Cup Team André de
Smet, Managing Director of Barlo Plastics said, 'Having taken a keen
interest in sailing for many years, I am delighted that Barlo Plastics will
be the title sponsor of the British Admiral's Cup Team 2001. Recent success
by Team GBR at the Sydney Olympics and this summer's Tour Voile 2000 success
supports my view that next year's Barlo Plastics British Team will be the
strongest seen in recent times.'

He continued, 'Barlo Plastics has achieved its leading market position in
Europe as a result of good products, excellent people and strong ambition in
precisely the same way that winning the Admiral's Cup requires first class
boats, experienced and skilled crews and of course determination. Let me
wish every competitor in the Farr 40 selection trials an exciting and
rewarding competition.'
