I'm pleased to announce that your Board of Directors has appointed Andrew Scott as Chief Executive Officer of the BIA Ltd; Andrew takes up the position as of today.

Andrew has solid marine industry experience, is an accomplished Chief Financial Officer and has the skills to lead the team and focus on priorities to support our members.

Andrew has impressed the BIA Board in his role as Financial Controller since January 2021 and we have now expanded his appointment as CEO.

As President, I'd like to thank Nik Parker and Neil Patchett for their work as Co-General Managers as an interim arrangement to help us handle the major disruptions to the association caused by Covid.

Andrew's appointment as CEO is the only change to the BIA team and is designed to focus our efforts to get on with our key priorities. For Nik that is member services and programs, and Neil's work in government advocacy and policy.

The Board also thanks the wider team for their efforts throughout the turbulence caused by the pandemic. The team of 10, including the management team, is based across NSW, Qld and SA, providing direct member engagement, programs management, marketing and communications and back-office admin support.

Andrew is now engaged with the management team to continue the work of the BIA to support members' interests by having a strong, resilient and robust industry association, with BIA key priorities focused on:

  • Deliver Industry-Focused Programs, Products and Services
  • Grow Participation in Boating
  • Deliver Government Advocacy
  • Promote Education, Skills and Jobs
Andrew provides BIA with a solid financial footing. He brings experience from 35 years as a Public Practitioner in accounting; has held Group Accounting and General Management positions spanning industries such as hospitality, mining, farming, surf and marine.

His experience in the boating industry includes 10 years as General Manager Sunrunner Sport Cruisers Group of Companies; importation of US brands of power craft; managerial roles spanning marketing, shows (domestic and international); supply chain, HR, accounting; and managing domestic and international group dealers.

Since 2010 he has operated as a CFO/ GM for a variety of clients in the boating and surf sectors across Australia and the USA.

Andrew is active in water sports, snow skiing and hiking. He is a boat owner and enjoys time on the water with his family.

I'm sure you will get to meet Andrew at upcoming BIA events, but he is always available to speak with members and would be happy to hear from you at or on 0419 782 796.
